UberConference: Disruptive (in a good way) [#FF]

July 20, 2012 · by AudioAcrobat · in #FollowFriday, Cloud, Free Tools, Services We Like, Social Networking, Twitter. ·

The #FollowFriday Series highlights today’s up-and-coming, active and all-around noteworthy Twitter accounts the AudioAcrobat staff deems worthy of following; while at the same time peering deeper into the soul(-cial media) of each account and providing a brief-yet-informative analysis.

Welcome back for the twenty-ninth #FollowFriday tweet / WordPress mashup of 2012 here on the AudioAcrobat Weblog!

In the world of conferencing options, there is one player seeming to make bigger waves than most.  After having won the recent TechCrunch Disrupt NY event earlier this year, and still remaining in private beta, this week’s featured account boasts “tens of thousands” active users averaging more than 31 minutes per call.  That’s longer than FreeConferenceCall.com, folks.  Just sayin’.

In today’s post, we will dive deeper into the tweets of San Francisco Bay Area-based conferencing company, UberConference (@uberconference) and the Twitter accounts they have chosen to follow … a mirror, if you will, into the soul(-cial media) behind a company who is managed by the man behind Google Voice, Craig Walker.

Yep.  That’s right, we just said it … “soulcial media”.  We also said, “a company who is managed by the man behind Google Voice” in the same sentence.

More about UberConference

UberConference brings a whole new visual dimension to audio conference calls. From any computer, anyone in the call can see the names, photos, and other information of the others in the call. The display shows the current speaker, and the organizer has a number of helpful tools to keep the conference running smoothly. They can record calls, mute participants to get rid of background noise or put “earmuffs” on people they may not want to hear part of the conversation.

UberConference is audio conferencing done right.
